How to Get Ripped: Achieving the Unachievable is Challenging!

How to get ripped is a question asked by many, especially men and off late, women who crave for such a body. As a strength trainer, I am asked most common questions like “how to get ripped abs”, “how to get ripped fast”, “how to get ripped arms”, “how to get ripped body”, “what are the ways of getting ripped”, or “how long does it take to get ripped”.

Getting a ripped body is easier said than done. It takes a lot of hard work to be strong, lean and powerful. Going to the gym for the sake of it and working out will never help you to get ripped. How to get ripped does not mean simple weight loss; there is much more to it than what meets the eye—losing body fat. And as you know, losing fat is the most difficult task. 90 days… 180 days… even a year and still people don’t get the desired body fat percentage.

WHY?

Let us take a peek at the basics you need to follow for getting ripped, or at least, to start the process of getting ripped.

  • How to Get Ripped #1: HIIT

Other than lifting weights, you also need to do High Intensity Interval Training. Slow and steady cardio does not work always. You need to break that monotony with HIIT. Coupled with slow recovery phase, HIIT helps you in losing twice your body fat.

Talk to your gym trainer as he/she is the right person to guide you in HIIT.

  • How to Get Ripped #2: Lift Heavy

Yes, you have read it right. If you think you are going to get a ripped body by using weights less than 12 or 15 pounds, you need to think again. Light weights will never give you ripped body. You have to come out of your comfort zone, and lift heavy.

For women, lifting heavy does wonders and of course, don’t think you will be a man or it is a man’s domain. Try to lift heavy and you will be pleasantly surprised at the result.

Lift heavy does not mean lifting very heavy weights that you cannot manage. Lift heavy means lift weights more than what you are used to.

  • How to Get Ripped #3: Do not Rest Much between Sets

Many gym-goers are in the habit of resting for minutes between sets, or wasting time chatting between sets. If you want a ripped body, you have to give up this habit. If your trainer asks you to rest for 15 seconds between sets, you have to follow it. That 15 seconds should not turn to 60 seconds.

Time management is necessary here.

  • How to Get Ripped #4: Do not Cut Down on Calories Overnight

You have heard that to get ripped, you have to be calorie-conscious. What you do is you decide you will cut down on calories from the very next day. NO, THIS IS WRONG. Can you imagine how your body would react to it? All these years you were eating calorie-dense foods, and all of a sudden, you are going on calorie-deficit!

This will harm your body more than doing any good. And cutting down on calories overnight will never give you a ripped body. For example, you are used to eating 3000 cal daily and from tomorrow you want to bring it down to 1500 cal! This is an unnecessary torture on your body. Bring in calorie deficit over a week or till your body gets used to it.

I am sure you understand what I am saying here.

  • How to Get Ripped #5: Stop Depending on Supplements

If you think by taking a few supplements you will get a ripped body, you are totally in the dark. Then it is better you don’t work toward getting a ripped body. If supplements only would help, then everyone in the world would get a ripped body, isn’t it?

If you want long-lasting results, forget the shortcut. Yes, supplements are necessary but not to the extent that you start eating very little daily with a hope of getting ripped!

Conclusion

How to get ripped is easily asked and equally difficult to achieve. BUT with hard work, dedication, and time management, this dream of yours will of course come true. All you need is to follow the basics mentioned above, and most important, talk to your gym trainer. Tell him/her about your goal(s) and strictly follow what the trainer says and asks you to do.
