8 Training Terms

Let us quickly find out what these training terms mean.

#1 Interval Training

Without a doubt, continuous training could exhaust the person and may also cause numerous muscle injuries. With that thing in mind, it is necessary to do interval training. This training term is structured and rigid training that alternates between slow recovery phases and bursts of high intensity. In this type of training, you do not have to do continuous training, but you train at frequent intervals of high and low-intensity workouts.

#2 Cardiovascular or Cardio Training

As the name suggests, the training term puts focus on your heart health. Not only the heart, but cardio training puts special focus on the lungs and circulatory system as well. In this training, oxygen is used as fuel in increasing HDL (good cholesterol) and improving the lungs and heart functions. If you believe that your heart is beating a lot faster than the normal rate or your blood pressure is high, then you need to consider doing cardio training. In addition to these benefits, it also helps in burning calories. Some of the most effective cardio training are swimming, jogging, running, dancing, and aerobics.

#3 Circuit Training

It is a fast-paced exercise or workout routine that builds endurance and stamina. In addition to that, includes cardio stations and muscle strength. This consecutive training has typical 5-10 exercises with 3-4 reps that do not duplicate same muscle groups. Most of the people have a misconception that circuit training is only limited to weightlifting and other muscle building exercises. However, the truth is that it is a perfect combination of aerobic, anaerobic, and weightlifting exercises. Keep in mind that circuit exercises are always performed without any breaks, and it is one of the hardest training types.

#4 Anaerobic Training

It is that training term where too much oxygen is needed to complete the exercises. Due to this factor, anaerobic exercises can only be done for a few seconds without any breaks. Some of the anaerobic exercises include sprinting, powerlifting, and sports. All such exercises will help you in maintaining your cardiovascular health as well.

#5 Strength Training

Also known as “resistance training,” it is essential for loss of fat, strengthening of bones, toning of muscles, and improvement of blood circulation. Bodyweight, machines, free weights, and bands are used in this training. If you want to convert your body fat into lean muscles, then you need to consider doing strength training.

#6 Cross Training

This training involves you to make an exercise schedule which includes numerous exercises which focuses on the same muscle endurance. The best part of such training is that it helps you in overusing your muscles which reduces the probability of injury.

#7 Repetitions & Sets (Reps & Sets)

In any workout regime, repetitions mean “how many times an exercise is or should be performed. On the other hand, sets mean “how many cycles of the same exercise should be followed.”

#8 Plateau

In the initial days of losing weight, you will notice results at a fast pace. However, with the passage of time, your body may show no change at all. This is the phase when your body has reached its plateau which means that you will not see any change in the body with the same exercise schedule. This is when you need to think of revising up your program by bringing a change to your routine so that you can get the most benefit out of the program.

Endnote

As stated above, there are many other training terms used by fitness trainers or coaches. All the training terms mentioned above are some of the most common ones that are used by most of the people, but they are not the only ones. If you want to know about more terms, then you can anytime ask your fitness trainer, and they will help you in knowing all of them. And do not forget that after any workout and physical activity is very useful to relax in the shower. And the mood will be created by the design of the shower, which is created with the help of tiles.
